Just can't help myself

I want to talk about my guilty pleasure "reality" television.  First we need  a definition of reality television.  Second we need to set some ground rules.

"Reality" television is not reality.  If reality was truly entertaining, we wouldn't need television or movie because we live in reality.  At least most of us do.  Lets get real Tom C (I don't want to get sued) and little lesbian gone astray, Justin Beiber do not live reality.

"Reality" television is scripted reality.  The only close to real reality show ever filmed was Real World Season 1 and even that I'm sure was a little scripted.

There are also two different types of reality television.  First is competition reality which include at the high end Rhe Voice and Amazing Race and at the low end would be The Bachelor and Bachelorette.

The second type is what I can fame whore reality television. This would include Keeping Up with the Kardashians (see what releasing a sex tape could do for you as well), any program on MTV and any show on E.

So I was watching Talk Soup because it's funny and I can, but I digress.  Back to the show, they showcased a vampire cult so to speak.  The show taught me a few things about our nocturnal brethren.

1) they don't feed directly from humans so they are pansy vampires.  They it's have been the muse for Twilight, which would explain Kristen Stewarts bad acting because the sucked the life pit of her.

2) The vampire cult have meetings and they take notes of the meetings, discuss  agendas and so on and so forth. Who didn't know the prince of darkness was so organized?

3) The most shocking thing I learned is that they don't bite and the leader a pretentious prick named Logan gets really upset and throws a fit in the form of a melodramatic soliloquy when someone playfully bites him at a nightclub.

All of this made me rethink my stance on the Twilight Saga.  Maybe Bella and gang aren't the most pathetic vampire bunch.  At least the Twilight twits could bite.

---—-----------------------------------------

My favorite type of "reality" show is competition reality.  I love that there is a prize to explain why these people are acting like fools.  I hate to believe that a majority of mankind are all insipid self-absorbed morons.

My fave of these is Survivor despite Jeff Probst condescending tone he uses to encourage and berate the players.  The show usually puts a pretty decent cast together even though I have applied three times and have never been chosen, but I digress again. The players for the most part are entertaining and the challenges are fun to watch.

The part I really love is too watch these people implode or explode.  It really shows their poor sportsmanship or strategy.  It exposes these people in ways they didn't expect the viewers to see.

This season or cycle, however you want to call it, has already exposed some players behavior in not so nice light and has made me smh and lol.  Of course you have your favorites and you get upset (like you get a piece of the prize) if something happens to them or someone else's mistake affects them. However these implosions or explosions then become kind of unwritten rules of the game.

Rule Number 1 - Just because someone tells you that you are going to be voted out doesn't mean that is true so don't act like a fool. For instance, J'Tia, a nuclear engineer (which worries me), was told she was next to be voted out.  This obviously didn't sit well with her and she decided to retaliate.  So like a three year old, she destroyed about 75% of their food supply. However it backfired on her because they didn't vote her off and she had to suffer without any food, but she didn't last much longer because her tribe couldn't forget her actions.

Rule Number 2 - You will not earn any respect, fans or favor if you don't want to play the game.  Two examples of this have already happened this season. The first was very early.  Garrett, a pro poker player (which I used to think they had to be smart), decided to put his foot down and have an open discussion about the upcoming tribal vote instead of going off in groups and being sneaky, in other words PLAY THE GAME.  He's the one that told J'Tia she was being voted off.  His lack of desire to play the game is what made two of his "alliance" turn on him and voted him out.

The second example came from Lindsey who decided to leave the game.  She didn't get voted out.  She correctly thought she would be next but instead of strategizing and finding away for her to stay, she gave up and quit.  Her pal and ally, Cliff, was voted out and after tribal council (I know that sounds silly), she decided to throw a hissy fit and trade barbs with another player.  She suddenly felt uncomfortable and in a melodramatic way decided to quit.  This only angers viewers and especially ones who auditioned.

Rule Number 3 - Just because you seem to have power, don't act like you have power.  So there is this jerk bullying cop, who plays a decent game, named Tony.  I don't like him because he's a loud obnoxious prick in every sense of those three words.  He formed an alliance with another cop named Sarah.  The tribes had a switch which separated Sarah from Tony and the rest of her original tribe.  Tony's tribe had to suffer through the Cliff & Lindsey saga described up above.  Tony's tribe had to go to a challenge with two people short but they won the challenge.  However at the end of the challenge,  Tony is yelling "Top Five Baby" which announced to Sarah that she had been replaced.

In Sarah's new tribe,  she had three from one tribe and three from another tribe and then her.  She was the deciding vote which she handled very nicely.  It was when they merged with Tony's tribe that Sarah found herself in trouble.

Tony wanted solid commitment from Sarah that she would vote with their tribe.  Sarah couldn't give it and wouldn't swear on her badge.  Are you kidding me?  Lying is a part of this game sometimes you have to lie and is someone going to take away your child, spouse, career or badge if you swear on it but don't mean it.  Grow up but again I digress.

Sarah then turns around and tries to force her tribe to vote how she wants to vote instead of getting a majority idea of who to vote out.  She really told them that if you don't vote how I want to vote then I should just flip.  She thought she was untouchable because she thought she was the deciding vote and had power.

Sarah's actions upset Kass, Chaos Kass that is.  I love it when these fools give themselves or others these stupid nicknames, but yet again, I digress. Kass decided to flip when Tony's tribe realized that Sarah was the leader and were going to vote for her.

Sarah sealed her own fate. All she had to do was lie to Tony, vote they way her tribe wanted to vote and keep her mouth shut.  The other tribe would have bamboozled this leads me to Rule Number 4.

Rule Number 4 - Don't be an idiot with your hidden immunity idol. The above tribal council was so up in the air that no one not even the viewers knew what was going to happen which made it fun to watch.  We knew Sarah's tribe was voting for Tony and Tony's tribe was voting for Sarah.  Tony was going to play his hidden immunity idol which meant all votes for him or whoever he let use it would not count and we knew Kass was uncomfortable with Sarah.

Tony played his immunity idol to cover LJ, who Tony thought the other group was going to vote out.  LJ turned around and used his immunity idol to cover Tony.  Now Sarah was pushing her group to vote for Tony and Kass was pushing to vote out either Trish or Jeffra.  So going into tribal council, we were led to believe that they were voting for Tony and by LJ playing his idol to cover Tony sent a message to the viewers that Sarah was leaving.

Jeff has he always does reads the votes in a very dramatic and meticulous way.  He should have this down pat after 28 seasons.  The first vote is for Sarah.  The second vote is for Jeffra?!?!?!  Sarah's group decided to vote for Jeffra and by doing that they got rid of two hidden immunity idols and now Jeffra, a very lackluster player might leave.  But wait Chaos Kass strikes by voting out Sarah.

Both immunity idols were foolishly played.  Tony was showing honor I guess by covering LJ.  LJ was reciprocating the love by covering Tony.  Neither one of them were in danger because neither one of them tried to infiltrate the group and learn who they were thinking about voting out.  You would think that someone with an idol would try a little espionage in their game to ascertain info to see if they need to use their idol or not.

There are my ramblings.  I hope you enjoyed.  Until next time, make sure your drinks are tall and stiff.
